The first part of this document
gives the paper submission guideline. The second part gives the submission
format for camera ready document.
Part One
Paper Submission for review
Papers
should describe original work; they should emphasize completed work rather than
intended work, and should indicate clearly the state of completion of the
reported results. Wherever appropriate, concrete evaluation results should be
included. Submissions will be judged on correctness, originality, technical
strength, significance and relevance to the conference, and interest to the
attendees.
All submissions will be considered for both oral and poster session; the decision whether each paper is scheduled into an oral or poster session will be made
by the program committee. There is no short paper category at COLING 2010.
The only short papers at COLING-2010 will be the
demo papers
.
Submissions
presented at the COLING conference should mostly contain new material that has
not been presented at any other meeting with publicly available proceedings.
Papers that are being submitted in parallel to other conferences or workshops
must indicate this on the title page, as must papers that contain significant
overlap with previously published work.
Submissions must be in two-column format and must not exceed eight (8) pages of
content, plus 1 additional page for references. Papers that exceed the 8 page
limit on the content part will be automatically rejected. If absolutely
necessary, in this initial April 22 submission only, you may use more than 1
page for references (i.e. you may submit 8 content pages plus any number of
additional pages with references), but the final July 2 camera-ready copy must
use only 1 page for references. You should use the
Latex Style Files
(tarred
file)
or
Microsoft Word document template
supplied
restrictions. Complete list of all the documents is given under
Formatting Guidelines
in
Part Two
of this document.
As
reviewing will be blind, the paper should not include the authors' names and
affiliations. Furthermore, self-references that reveal the author's identity,
e.g., "We previously showed (Smith, 1991) ...", should be avoided. Instead, use
citations such as "Smith previously showed (Smith, 1991) ...". Papers that do
not conform to these requirements will be rejected without review.
Submission
will be electronic. The only accepted format for submitted papers is Adobe PDF.
The papers must be submitted no later than
April 22, 2010 23:59 PDT (GMT - 7hours).
. Papers submitted after that time will not be reviewed. No extensions will
be granted.
Questions
regarding the submission procedure should be directed to
the email:

.
Part Two
Paper
submission for Camera Ready Version
This page provides links to style information
and templates for Coling 2010 regular, poster and demo papers. All final
camera-ready copy
must
conform to the format described here, and
templates are provided to make this easy to achieve(
More detailed camera-ready instructions
is made available on May 28, 2010
)
Any questions regarding formatting and use of
these style guidelines for camera-ready submissions, or any other aspect of Coling 2010 publication, may be
addressed directly to the email:
coling2010@mtlab.hit.edu.cn
, or to the Publications Chairs, Lu Qin
(
csluqin@comp.polyu.edu.hk
) or
Zhao Tiejun(
tjzhao@mtlab.hit.edu.cn
).
These guidelines may also be used for other
kinds of papers (eg workshop papers). Authors should consult the relevant call
for papers web pages for any specific requirements.
Authors are strongly recommended to use the
style files provided here.
Manuscripts must be in
two-column format
,
single spaced
and in
11 point font
size. It is very important to specify
A4 format
paper( 21cm x 29.7cm), and
not
to include page numbers. The complete text
box should not exceed 15.8cm x 23cm with the top margin of 2.6cm, bottom margin
of 4.0cm, and the column separator of 4mm. The text box size and margins
must be strictly followed to ensure ample space for page numbers and other
labels for the proceedings. To ensuring printing quality, font size should be 11
point for all body text with not exceptions. Please read the detailed
instructions to prepare for your paper.
Submission of camera ready papers must be
through the electronic submission system as PDF files. As the LaTeX typesetting
can have different behaviors on different platforms, you must check your
PDF in your PDF reader to make sure that the layout is in A4 format and within
the text box limit. A likely command to adjust in .sty file is
\setlength\topmargin{0.4in}
%
the margin
can be set to positive and negative values
For systems with Letter
size as default output on Mac machines, you might need to add three lines in
your .tex file right after the command
\begin{document}
%
Coling10 Possible Adjustment for Mac using pdflatex: 3 lines
\special{papersize=210mm,297mm} % set to A4 paper
\setlength{\pdfpageheight}{\paperheight}
\setlength{\pdfpagewidth}{\paperwidth}
Page Limit
The page limit for Coling 2010 main conference
papers must not exceed eight(8) pages of content, plus one (1) additional page
for references. The page limit for demo papers is four (4) pages including all
references. Demo papers can also use single-column format if it helps with the
illustrations. Other workshop papers must follow the page limit set by the
respective workshop chairs. All camera-ready submissions exceeding their
respective page limits will be rejected.
There is no copyright transfer process when you
submit the final version of your accepted paper. By default, by submitting your
camera ready version, you are bound by the copyright rules of the publishers
specified below.
1. Hard
copy production: Regular papers will be published by Tsinghua University Press
which reserves all the right for paper production (That is the same paper cannot
be published in paper form in any other publications).
2. CD
production. All regular papers, poster papers, and demo papers will be published
in a CD by The Chinese Information Processing Society which has no copyright
restrictions.
It is your responsibility to inform all
co-authors (and if applicable, your and their employers) to this arrangement.
Size of posters will be specified later.
