                           Call for Applications for the AFNLP-CIPS Scholarship

The Asian Federation of Natural Language Processing (AFNLP) and the Chinese Information Processing Society of China (CIPS) announce a call for applications for the AFNLP-CIPS scholarship, a jointly-fund scholarship for students to participate in the COLING-2010 conference. Ten students who have contributed papers to COLING-2010 will be selected to receive the scholarship. All selected applicants will receive the following concessions:
muFree registration for the main conference, including the banquet
muFree attendance at the conference reception
muFree city tour
muAll conference gifts, including a conference bag, CD-ROM of the proceedings (the           main conference, tutorials, and workshops are all included), souvenirs, and so on.
muFree 6-night accommodation (a standard room in Yayunchun Hotel, a 3-star hotel)           from August 22-27, 2010 will be also awarded to up to five selected candidates.

Students who meet the following conditions are encouraged to submit applications:
muThe applicant must be a registered full-time student with a valid student ID;
muThe applicant must be an author or a co-author of an accepted paper, oral or            poster, of COLING-2010, with confirmed submission of camera-ready            paper(s).

Recipients of the scholarship will be determined by the following selection criteria:
muThe first author of Best Paper Finalists automatically qualifies if he/she is a valid student;
muApplicants from less developed economies receive first priority;
muAuthors of oral papers receive priority over others;
muA first author receives priority over other authors;
muOnly one applicant per paper can be awarded;
muOther things being equal, ranking of applicants will be determined by the review panel.

1 If a candidate has more than one paper accepted, please use commas to separate the ID    numbers.

muAnnouncement of acceptance: July 7, 2010
