COLING-2010 General Policies on Workshops

These guidelines apply to all COLING2010 workshop accepted by the COLING2010 workshop committee. In principle, no direct financial support to the workshop organizers. The term “benefit” below thus should be interpreted as combining formal sponsorship and financial assistance. The “benefit” is designed to attract more attendances.

1.      COLING organizing committee will be in charge of the financial management and is responsible for all organizational cost, including venue, coffee break, and proceedings. Workshop organizers do not need to bear any financial responsibilities for these essential operations of the workshop.

2.      The number of one workshop organizers should be no more than three.

3.      (1) If the number of registered participants to a workshop is less than 20, the workshop will be cancelled.

(2) If the number of registered participants to a workshop is more than 20 but less than 60 (say small size), one organizer receives free registration for the workshop.

(3) If the number of registered participates is equal to or more than 60 but less than 100 (say middle size), two organizers and one invited speaker (if necessary) receive free registration for the workshop.

(4) If the number of registered participates is equal to or more than 100 (say large size), all workshop organizers and two invited speakers (if necessary) are free registration for the workshop.

4.      COLING-2010 organization committee will consider needy participants (from students or for scholar from underdeveloped countries). For a small size workshop, one needy participant receives free registration for the workshop. For the middle size workshop, two needy participants receive free registration for the workshop. And for a large size workshop, three needy participants receive free registration for the workshop.

5.   Any other affairs which are not specified above would be settled with discussion between COLING-2010 organization committee and workshop organizers.
